Tamar Thorn
My tattoo career began in 2008 when I was offered an apprenticeship with Morag Pringle at Skinscape tattoo in Seapoint, Cape Town. Before that I had been working in the Fashion industry as a designer and painting in my free time.
I always loved painting portraits in oil and acrylic paint, so I have been very focussed on tattooing portraits and realism throughout my career so far. I also enjoy high detail Illustrado and Victoriana inspired styles.
I love working with black and grey, but equally enjoy colour, especially toned down, vintage palettes.
I have been very lucky to work overseas with (and get tattooed by) some amazing artists in the past few years and this is something I would like to do more in the future.
My main objective with my work is to create an original piece that my customer will be happy to wear on their skin. It therefore makes me extremely happy when customers come back for more work!
